This is America!! – Vol.8

Sunday, August 2^nd,

It’s been very quiet and peaceful at the campus of USJ.    The weather is perfect with a lovely cool summer breeze coming.   The landmark of USJ, McDonough Hall is shining against the clear blue sky in the day time and in the evening its view turns into magnificent and solemn which takes us back to 400 years ago, William Shakespreare's era.

Today Sunday, we have been relaxed all day long enjoying our each own holiday in spending time with their language partners or taking pictures.   In the evening, we watched an outdoor play of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare at USJ campus.  It was performed by the Greater Hartford Shakespeare Festival.

Many people gathered to watch Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet with their own deck chairs and food staff.  They looked so happy to enjoy this summer atmosphere and the play.  The year of 2016 is the 400 year anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death.  People have enjoying his plays for 400 years long like this.  This is also one of the active arts we have experienced at USJ.  

気持ちのよいキリッと晴れた爽やかな日曜日。セント・ジョセフ大学のキャンパスは静かです。ランドマークのマクドノー・ホールの尖塔がまぶしく光ります。夕方からは、ライトアップされ威厳のある姿を見せてくれます。

今日は日曜日。のんびりとそれぞれの時間を過ごしました。ランゲージパートナーと写真を撮ったり。夕方からは、キャンパス内で野外劇を観劇。シェイクスピア、ロミオとジュリエット。本格的な芝居です。

たくさんの人が思い思いにデッキチェアと食べ物を持って、夏の夕暮れのシェイクスピアを楽しんでいます。来年、2016年はシェイクスピアが亡くなって400周年。400年に渡って、このように人々に楽しまれてきたのでしょう。17世紀のイギリスの衣装が大学のキャンパスを駆け巡ります。不思議な時空感覚。こうした雰囲気での観劇も、アクティブ・アート体験の重要な一つとなりました。
