From Australia_Report_on_St. Andrew’s Catholic College_Feb.27th_2016
Otsuma Nakano students are being around the world! Proudly we present another new report from Cairns, Australia. Shiho Ogata, a senior 1st grader of Otsuma Nakano, studying at St. Andrew’s Catholic College in Australia reports her impressive life there.
Hi,there! I am Shiho Ogata. I'm now studying at St. Andrew’s Catholic College in Australia. How fast time flies! I mean that four weeks have already passed since I arrived here. I can realized that my English is gradually improving little by little, especially my listening skills are getting much better.
Last weekend, my host sister and I watched a movie,'deadpool'. We didn't have English and Japanese subtitles, of course, which was hard for me to catch up with its story. However I could occasionally understand what the actors were saying. That was very funny movie without words, so I want to watch it again.
Next I went to Crystal Cascades, which is a natural cascade surrounded with woods. I walked around there and swam in it. The cool water felt good. In Japan I have never been to the place like this, so I had a lot of fun! I loved this place!
At St. Andrew’s, I am leading a fulfilling and productive time there, which makes me encouraged and motivated. One of productive days was last Friday. On that day I supported a Japanese class through teaching the correct Japanese accent to prep students and grade 4 students in junior school. I helped grade 1s and 4s in Japanese class. I was very surprised to find the students in this school have learned Japanese since they were preps! They talked to me with 'こんにちは'. They learned a lot of Japanese words with the music. For example, Hiragana, number, greetings, and main verbs.
Ms. Allison Von, who is teaching Japanese, is really good at speaking Japanese. I was also surprised about that. She has experienced studying in Japan. Because of it, we talked a lot about studying abroad at lunch time. I had a very nice and special time.
I will try to be involved in English language environment as much as I can and spend my time here cherishing every day. Thank you for reading my report!
Regards,
Shiho,
