Updated Report on May 29th from New Plymouth, New Zealand.

The following is the updated report on NPGHS by Naoka Yoshizawa, who is enrolling at the local school as one year long exchange student.

Hello everyone!  This is Naoka Yoshizawa. This is the second report since I came to New Plymouth. I’m spending a great time in New Plymouth. I’m gradually getting used to the life in New Plymouth, but at the same time I am missing Japanese food, family, and friends.

In the hospitality class, I made some dishes which have beef, pork, egg etc. We spent a lot of time cooking, but they were so delicious. In the sports class I studied about volleyball, bones and muscles. I also did boxing. It was so hard but it was so fun, too.

On Friday (the 21st of May), I went to Teff’s house with Ayaka and Shino and we made Curry rice. It was so yummy that I had seconds! Ayaka stayed at my house that night. It was really fun, too. We talked about many things!

On Saturday (the 22nd of May), I watched a movie called The Princess Bride. It was a love story and we watched it in English. I sometimes couldn’t understand but Ayaka taught me so I could enjoy it!

On Sunday (the 23rd of May), I went to a trampoline park with Ayaka, Shino and Teff’s family. It was so hard to jump for a long time but Ayaka and Shino jumped more than me. They also could do forward roll!!

By the way, I have cooked some Japanese food for my host family every weekend. I made Teriyaki chicken last weekend. Leslie was so surprised and she said “It is delicious.” So I was so happy. I also made Soboro don and Nikomi udon.

皆さん、こんにちは。吉澤直夏です。このレポートも第二回を迎えました。ニュープリマスでの生活も慣れ、楽しい日々を送っています。しかし、日本食や家族、友達が恋しくなってきました。

学校の家庭科の授業では、牛や豚、卵を使った料理を作りました。作るのに時間がかかってしまいましたが、美味しく作ることが出来ました。体育の授業では、バレーボールや骨、筋肉について勉強しています。この間はボクシングもやりました。辛かったけど、楽しみました。

金曜日には、彩也夏と詩乃と一緒にテフリーの家でカレーライス作りました。とってもおいしくてお代わりまでしてしまいました。そして、その日の夜、彩也夏は私の家に泊まりました。たくさん話をしたりして、楽しかったです。土曜日には、プリンセス・ブライドという映画を見ました。わからないところもありましたが、彩也夏が教えてくれて、最後まで楽しむことが出来ました。日曜日には、彩也夏と詩乃とテフリーの家族と一緒にトランポリンをしました。長い時間飛ぶことはできませんでしたが、彩也夏と詩乃は私より長く飛んでいました。また、二人は前転もしていて、本当に驚きました！

毎週末には、ホストファミリーのために日本食を作っています。鶏の照り焼きを作ったときには、ホストファミリーが驚いていました。美味しいと言ってくれた時は、本当に嬉しかったです。また、そぼろ丼と煮込みうどんも作りました。
