From New Zealand_Report on New Plymouth GHS_June 5th_2016

Updated Report on June 5th from New Plymouth, New Zealand.

The following is the updated report on NPGHS by Ayaka Okada who is enrolling at the local school as a term long exchange student.

Hello!  I’m Ayaka Okada.  I’d like to introduce my updated report on NPGHS to you.  The climate of New Zealand is getting colder and colder, but some people are still wearing t-shirts.

Friday, the 3rd of June was the day when teachers only went to school, and Monday, the 6th of the June was Queen's birthday, so there was no school for 4 days.  On Friday, I went to climb up Paritutu rock in the morning with other Japanese girls and Teffrey's family.  It wasn't as big as I expected, so it was fun to climb up. There are stairs in the middle of the Paritutu rock, but from the middle to the top, there is only a rope. So we held the rope and climbed up the rock. The view from the top was really amazing. We could see the whole of New Plymouth, and beautiful ocean. I really liked it, so I wish I could go there again.

Since we had 4 days of holidays, I went to visit my friend's farm. It was on the opposite side of Mount Taranaki, so what I could see was only farms.

On Saturday, I went to see cows. The cows on the farm were female, and they were all pregnant. Pregnant cows don't produce their milk, so we couldn't milk cows this time. When I was singing a song on the farm, the cows came closer to me. It was funny that there were so many cows around. I touched one of the cows with red fur. It was fluffy and when I fed her grass, she used her tongue to eat it. I thought I can't see the cow eating the grass in my hand anymore. So it was a really good experience.

On Sunday, we walked on the farm. It was a very big farm, so we had to walk for a long distance. My friend's farm was on the edge of the North Island, so we could see the beautiful ocean.

At the night, I cooked 'omuraisu' for everyone. They were surprised to put tomato sauce inside the rice, but they liked it so I was really happy.  We also went outside to see stars. My friend explained to me everything about stars we could see. We could see the Milky Way, and even Saturn. I felt like I'm in the universe. Since there was nothing on the farm, stars were spread all over the sky. I couldn't take whole stars by camera so I used my camera in my brain to not forget such a beautiful view.

On Monday, I fed a pig and a goat. I thought the pig would eat more than the goat but it wasn't true. The goat kept stealing the food for the pig, which was funny to watch.

It took an hour to go back to New Plymouth so we all slept in the car. It was a good experience to stay in the farm.

こんにちは！ニュージーランドの天気はどんどん寒くなってきていますが、まだTシャツを着ている人もいます。

金曜日は先生だけの日で、月曜日は王女様の誕生日だったので私たちは4日間の休みがありました。

金曜日は、午前中にparitutu rockを登りました。予想していたよりも大きくなく、とても楽しく登れました。中間までは階段がありましたが、そこから上はロープしかなかったので、ロープを使って登りました。頂上からの景色は素晴らしかったです。ニュープリマス全体が見られました。帰る前にもう一度来られるといいなと思いました！

4日間も学校がなかったので、私は友達のファームにお泊まりに行きました。タラナキ山の反対側だったので、周りには牧場しかなかったです。

土曜日には牛を見に行きました。全て雌牛で、妊婦さんでした。妊婦の牛は乳を出さないので、今回は、乳搾りはできませんでした。ファームで私が歌を歌っていると、たくさんの牛が周りにきてくれました。そして人生で初めて牛に触りました。草をあげたら、きれいに全部食べていました。

日曜日は、ファームを歩きました。友達のファームはニュージーランドの北島の端っこだったので、綺麗な海が見られました。夜には、オムライスを作りました。オムライスを作るのは初めてだったので上手にできたか分かりませんが、喜んでくれてよかったです。そのあと、星を見にいきました。友達は星に詳しくて、色々説明してくれました。たくさんの星の中には天の川があったり、土星までは見ることができませんでした。自分の真上を星が埋め尽くしていて、まるで宇宙にいるようでした。カメラで写真を残すことはできませんでしたが、自分の中のカメラに大切に保存しました。

月曜日は豚とヤギにえさをあげました。豚のほうがたくさん食べると思っていたら、ヤギのほうがたくさん食べていて見るのが面白かったです。

ニュープリマスに戻るのに1時間ほどかかったので、車の中ではみんな寝ていました。ファームにいくという貴重な体験ができてよかったです！！
