From New Zealand Report on Sacred Heart Girls College_180711

Kia Ora! I’m Yuki Fushida from Sacred Heart Girls College.

Two months have passed since I came to New Zealand.  Recently there were a lot of serious things, so I will write a longer report than usual.  I would be happy if you could read all of my report.

Now I will write about the dinner party with foreign students living in New Plymouth, about the change of the host family and about this weekend and the return home of my Japanese friends.

My host mother is pregnant.  She often gets out of shape, so we can’t communicate 100% good enough.  I sometimes felt it was hard.  So, Ms. Teffrey found a new host family for me.  Of course, I love my host family. But I would like to make this opportunity for me to study abroad more meaningful, so I decided to change my host family.

A new host family has a 9-year-old daughter.  My new host mother is really kind! I think it will be very good. The host sister is a little shy, but she is very cute.  I learned many from this experience. If I have some troubles, I should talk to a lot of people.  In addition, I can feel that my family is always supporting me and a lot of friends worried about me in Japan.  And I became very brave.

A dinner party was held with foreign students who live in New Plymouth the other day.  There were a lot of foreign students who come from China, Korea, Chile, Malaysia and Europe.  Their English was really good. And they speak in English like native speakers.  So, I thought I have to study English much harder so that  I could talk with them more!  It was very fun to communicate and connect with others in English.  It has motivated me to learn English with people who speak different languages.  In addition, I can learn that there are people who are interested in Japan and who can speak three languages.

Now the next topic is about my weekend.  Last Saturday, I moved to a new family.  I cleaned my room in the morning, and I cleaned it more than the time I came. And also at the time of parting with the host family, the 3-year-old host sister says "Bye Sis!"; and I thought that “she thought I was like her sister". In addition, the 7-year-old host sister gave me long hug. Then I scream "I'll miss your cooking" and the host father was laughing. I cried gently and almost cried in the car of Ms. Teffrey.

Then, I went to watch a rugby game with my new host family because I did not watch a live rugby game before. So, I was excited very much. The player looked very painful.  Then, I went for bowling with my friends.  I talked more than when I played in the first week.

I went to the city center with my host family on Sunday. I met my last host mother when I came here last year.  I was very interested that my last host mother and my new host mother were known each other.

I went to the airport to see of my Japanese friends who studied abroad with me.  My friends came too by surprise. The Japanese friend wept bitterly very much, and the surprise was a great success.  I have cried right before the friend passed through the gate. Then the friend "Do you best! Don't worry.”  I thought I would like to do my best!  I strongly promised to do it.

こんにちは！セイクレッドハートガールズカレッジに留学中の伏田有希です。私がここに来てから約2ヶ月が経ちました。最近大変なことが沢山あったのでこのレポートはとても長くなると思いますが、最後まで読んで頂けると嬉しいです。

このレポートではホストファミリーの変更についてとニュープリマスに住む留学生との食事会についてと、日本人の友達が帰国した後どのように1人で頑張ろうかについて書こうと思います。

私のホストマザーは妊婦さんです。彼女は体調を崩すことが多いです。なので、私に100%尽くすことができません。私はそれによって辛い思いをすることが多々ありました。そしてテフリー先生が新しいホストファミリーを見つけて下さりました。もちろん今のホストファミリーも大好きなのですが、せっかくの留学をより充実したものにしたいと思って変更を決めました。

新しいホストファミリーは、9歳の娘さんがいます。新しいホストマザーはとても優しい方で、上手くやっていけそうだと思いました。ホストシスターは少しシャイですが、とても可愛いです。私はこの経験から自分の悩みは人に打ち明けることが大切だと学びました。また同時に日本には心配してくれる家族や、友達が沢山いるということを改めて感じました。そしてとても心強くなりました。

先日、ニュープリマスに住んでいる留学生達との食事会がありました。そこには、中国や韓国やチリやマレーシアやヨーロッパから来た留学生が沢山いました。彼らの英語はとても堪能で、まるで自分の母国語のように話していました。私は自分の英語力の足りなさが情けなくなって、もっと喋れるようになりたいと強く思いました。

違う言語を話す人と英語でコミニュケーションを取るということがとても楽しくて、英語を学ぶモチベーションにも繋がりました。また3ヶ国語話せる子や日本の文化が好きな子が何人かいて、とても興味深かったです。

これから土日に起こった出来事について、書こうと思います。土曜日は私の引っ越しの日でした。午前中、自分の部屋を掃除して、私が来たときよりも綺麗にしました。そして前のホストファミリーとの別れの時、3才のホストシスターが “Bye Sis!” と言ってくれて、「私のことをお姉ちゃんのように思ってくれてたんだなと思って泣きそうになりました。また7才のホストシスターがしがみつくようにハグしてくれてとても嬉しかったです。そして、テフリー先生の車の中から “I’ll miss your cooking” と叫んだときのホストファザーの笑顔が優しくて泣きそうになりました。そのあと新しいホストファミリーとラグビーを観に行きました。私は生でラグビーを観たことが無かったので、とてもワクワクしました。選手たちは想像以上に痛そうでした。そのあと友達とボーリングに行きました。最初の週に遊んだときよりも沢山話したり、盛り上がることができて、自分の成長を感じました。

日曜日は、センターシティにホストファミリーと行きました。去年来たときのホストマザーに会って、今のホストマザーと前のホストマザーが知り合いだったことを知ってとても面白かったです。また前のホストファザーの高校時代の友達が私の仲の良い友達のお父さんだったり、その仲の良い友達が習っているニットボールのコーチが今の私のホストマザーで、とても興味深いなと思いました。

その後、一緒に留学していた日本人の友達を空港まで見送りに行きました。私はサプライズで現地の友達にも来てもらいました。その日本人の友達は大号泣していて、サプライズは大成功でした。その友達がゲートをくぐる直前に私も泣いてしまいました。そしたら、その友達が「頑張れ〜！大丈夫だよ！」って言ってくれて、頑張ろう！！と心に強く誓いました。
