NSDA_英語ディベート全国大会_GROW賞受賞
Our very own Otsuma Nakano students, the two teams of them, Yu Oikawa and Hana Yasuda, and also Tomomi Kimura and Shiori Takeda, participated in the 2018 NSDA Japan National Tournament on August 4th and 5th at Hinode Junior and Senior High School in Meguro, Tokyo.
The debating topic of the competition is as follows:
Resolved: On balance, higher education should focus on competency development vs. traditional academic subjects in order to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Otsuma Nakano teachers, Willie Vickers (a coordinator of Otsuma Nakano global language programs) and Kieran McMahon (a writing and debating teacher of global language programs) made their effort to support for their progress in English debating skills.
All of our Otsuma Nakano High School students prepared diligently for the tournament and as a result of their efforts, the team of Yu Oikawa and Hana Yasuda were awarded a GROW Award for best in the Open-Mindedness category. Otsuma Nakano is very proud of their award! Congratulations!
8月4，5日に東京、目黒の日出中学校・高等学校を会場に第4回NSDA日本全国大会（英語ディベート大会）が開催されました。本校は第2回大会では会場校となるなど、英語ディベート大会に積極的に取り組んでおり、今年で3年連続の出場となります。
年々、本校の生徒のレベルが上がり、今年度は惜しくもアメリカの本大会への出場ができるベスト８には届きませんでしたが、高校2年生のチーム、及川優さん、安田華さんのペアが、堂々と「ベスト・オープン・マインド」賞を受賞し、その英語ディベートにおける“しなやかさ”と“さわやかさ”を存分に発揮してくれました。
本校で指導にあたった Willie Vickers 教諭（本校グローバル・ランゲージプログラム担当）とKieran McMahon 教諭（本校ライティング・ディベーティング担当）は、今後の更なる本校生徒の活躍を約束してくれています。
