Another report on last Christmas and happy new year reached us from Burnaby South Secondary school.  Juki Kawamura, shared with us the happiest Christmas experience that she has ever done in her life.

Hello! Everyone. I’m Juki Kawamura, one-year exchange student at Burnaby South Secondary School in Canada.  How was your winter break?  Today I would like to talk about what I experienced during my winter break in Canada. We have 2 weeks for winter break. It is the same as the winter holidays in Japan, but we don’t have any homework for our winter break.  What a huge difference it is!  So, I had a lot of time to do anything during this break.

For the first thing, I will talk about how I spend my Christmas Eve. I went to Vancouver Christmas market with my friend, which came from Germany culture. There was many food and souvenirs shops there. I bought Christmas ornaments made from races. It was so cute, and I would like to give them to my grandmother.

Also, I will talk about my Christmas. I ate pancakes, watched Christmas movies, and saw the light illumination in the park with my host family. It was the best Christmas in my life. Next year I want to celebrate Christmas with my family like what I did in this year’s Christmas.

For the next, I will talk about my New Year’s Eve. I went to the Canada Place, where is located in the downtown of Vancouver, and I saw the fire works with my friends. Actually, I had strongly wanted to go fireworks to countdown, but I heard so many people would be there and be crowded. So, I went to the fireworks from 9:00pm until 9:05pm. It was for the family, and it was wonderful!  What’s more, there were many food shops, and I ate takoyakis.  They tasted so good!

Anyhow, this year’s winter break was super really nice to me. I really enjoyed it, so I will work harder than ever from that my school starts. Canada is cold, but I know Japan is so cold too.  I hope all of you will take care of yourselves!

皆さん、こんにちは。カナダ、バーナビー・サウス・セカンダリー・スクールに一年留学している川村珠希です。皆さんの冬休みはどうでしたか？これから私のカナダでの冬休みについて、皆さんにレポートと思います。私たちの学校、サウス・セカンダリーは、冬休みが2週間あります。これは日本と同じだと思いますが、私たちには宿題がありません。そのため、私は冬休みにたくさん時間がありました。

まず、カナダでのクリスマスイブについて話します。私は、バンクーバー・クリスマスマーケットに行きました。これはドイツの文化が元になっているそうです。たくさんのお土産や食べ物のお店が立ち並んでいて、私はレースでできたクリスマスのオーナメントを買いました。

そして、わたしはクリスマスにホストファミリーとパンケーキを食べ、映画を見て、公園のイルミネーションを見に行きました。今年のクリスマスは、私のこれまでの中で一番良いクリスマスだったので、来年は家族と今年のようにクリスマスを祝いたいです。

次にカナダでの大晦日についてです。私はバンクーバーにあるカナダ・プレイスに行き、花火を見ました。本当は年越しの花火が見たかったのですが、人がかなり多いと聞き夜9時から5分間の家族向けの花火を見に行きました。とても綺麗でした。そして、食べ物の出店が出ていました。私たちは、たこ焼きを食べました。

最後に、今年の冬休みは、とても良い冬休みになったことを皆さんに伝えたいと思います。沢山楽しんだので、学校が始まってから頑張ろうと思います。カナダも寒いですが、日本もとても寒いと思うので体調に気をつけてお過ごしください。最後まで読んでいただきありがとうございます。
