An updated report reached us from St. Andrew’s Catholic College in Cairns, Australia.  Honoka Sugita shares with you her life in Australia.

Hello everyone! I’m Honoka Sugita, one of the exchange students here being immersed in the community of St Andrew’s Catholic College in Cairns, Australia. It is cold in Cairns now because it’s winter. So, I wear a windbreaker every day. Anyhow, I’m going to tell you about my weekend and school life.

Firstly, I want to tell you about a big park in Cairns. We went to the park to practice riding bike. I thought it would be just a big park, but it isn’t a just large park. The park has playgrounds and long roads. It was like in a forest. Also, there is a big river in the park. It was a really great place to get relaxed, so I wish there was a place like it near my house.

Next, my host sister, Millie’s birthday was 3rd June, so we had a birthday party for her. Her birthday party with her friends was held on Sunday. On that day, we watched “Aladdin” in a cinema. The cinema is in a shopping mall, but it was very big and each seat there was so wide and comfortable. So, I could focus on the film. Also, I thought the theater should be full of audience people because the film I watched was a Disney film and I think the starting time would be the best, but there were few people in the theater.  So, I was surprised.

By the way, we have Zumba classes on Wednesday afternoon. Zumba is a kind of dance. It is very hard to me because the movements are so fast. I’m always tired after Zumba because we danced about an hour, but it is good for a change of pace.  I’m really enjoying Zumba.

みなさんこんにちは！オーストラリアのケアンズにあるセントアンドリュースカトリックカレッジに留学中の杉田帆乃香です。今、ケアンズは冬で気温が低く、上着が手放せない日々が続いています。今回のレポートでは週末の出来事と学校生活についてお伝えします。

最初に、公園に行った時の話をします。そこには、ホストシスターの自転車の練習をするために行きました。日本にある普通の大きな公園をイメージしていたのですが、実際はただの大きい公園ではありませんでした。そこには遊具が置いてある子供達の遊び場のほかに長い道がありました。そこはまるで森の中のようでした。また、大きな川も公園内を流れていました。リラックスするのに最適な場所だったので、私の家の近くにもこんな公園があったらいいなと思いました。

次に、私のホストシスターのミリーの誕生日が6月3日にあったのでバースデーパーティーがありました。お友達を呼んでのパーティーは日曜日に行われました。私たちはアラジンの映画を観に行きました。映画館はショッピングモールの中にあるのですが、とても広くて、シートもゆったりとしていて快適でした。日本のシートよりも広くて柔らかく、映画に集中できました。また、ディズニーの映画かつ時間もちょうどいい時間に開始だったので混んでいるかと思っていたのですが、ほとんど人がいなくてびっくりしました。

ところで、私たちは水曜日の午後にズンバのクラスがあります。ズンバとはダンスの一種です。動きが速いので大変です。ズンバの後はいつも疲れてしまいますが、いい気分転換になっているので楽しんでやっています。
