From New Zealand – Update Exchange in New Plymouth Girls High for Term 3 – 190818

Now another updated report reached us from New Zealand.  Hikaru shares with us what’s going on for her recent exchange student life.  Here we go!

Hello, I am Hikaru Kito. I’m one of the exchange students studying abroad at New Plymouth Girls High School in New Plymouth, New Zealand.　In August, I think Japan has been having very hot days.  However, it’s been 10 to 15 degrees in New Zealand. Suddenly hail or tornado may occur. The roof of the house was blown away by this tornado.

This is where we will get into the main topic of this report.

I have been doing what is called “Girl Guides” for a while. This is a similar program as “Girl Scouts” in Japan. We think about various topics every time and do crafts for this “Girls Guides”. There are many things that make me feel very fresh and excited.

The other day, I went to “Ladies night” as one of the activities of Girl Guides. As for this “Ladies night” program, only ladies were allowed to enter this event.  In the evening it started at 7 pm and finished at 9 pm. A lot of small shops were there open and various daily necessities were sold with impressive demonstration.  There were also some hands-on activities available.  I made a mosaic tile art. I did it for the first time, and it worked very well, of which I felt very proud.

Now it’ s been 5 months since I kicked off my stay here in New Plymouth, and now it should be when I would like to make my kiwi life more fulfilled. Thank you so much for reading my report!

こんにちは。私はニュージーランドのニュープリマス・ガールズ・ハイスクールに留学している鬼頭光です。8月に入り日本は猛暑日が続いてると思いますが、ニュージーランドは10度から15度の寒い日が続いています。先日は突然あられが降ってきてトルネードが発生し、家の屋根が吹き飛んでいたりしました。

さて、私は少し前からガールズガイドをしています。日本でいうガールスカウトと同じようなものです。ガールズガイドではいろいろなテーマについて話したり、工作をしたりします。初めて体験することが多く新鮮に感じることが多々あります。

先日はその活動の一環でレディースナイトに行きました。レディースナイトは午後7時から始まり、9時まで行われました。これには女性しか入ることができません。ここではいろいろな日用品が実演販売で売られていました。またいろいろなアクティビティが用意されていました。私はモザイクタイルアートを作りました。初めて作りましたがうまくできました。

留学生活も5か月目に入ろうとしています。これから、さらに充実した留学にしていきたいと思います。
