From Australia_Another report on Term 2 at SACC_Apr. 17th 2016

Emily Ishii is another exchange student to join St. Andrew's Catholic College for term 2 as well as Marin Nakamura.  We are so highly of introducing her kickoff report on her school life at St. Andrew's Catholic College in Australia.

Hello!  How is the weather in Japan? Here in Cairns, Australia although it isn't the hottest time of year anymore, I still find it to me pretty hot and it has also been raining quite frequently.

A week has passed since I have arrived to Cairns.  I have already been able to experience so many things and the past week has been all so surreal for me.

On my first weekend, my host family took me to a market that they only have on Sundays.   There, many tents were put up and each of them sold interesting things and delicious food and beverages.  We also went to a couple of beaches, which were all extremely beautiful.  There is so much nature here, which is rare for me to see so often in the place where I live, so almost wherever I go, I feel truly astonished. I am even able to see a great amount of wild Kangaroos near my host familys house, and also, their house is near the beach so if we have time after school we can go for a walk on the beach.

The best part of being able to stay with host families for me is that you get to experience the local things as well, such as going to the local shops and so on.  You can also learn what the peoples lives really are like up close, which is something you can't do when you come for vacation.

As for school, it's very interesting for me to take classes in English because that is something I had wanted to do for a long time. Another thing that surprised me was that there are some classes that I don't have at my school in Tokyo, such as religion, drama, and so on.

Although I still have a lot more weeks left, I'm sure that time will fly very quickly so I hope I can make the rest of my stay here very productive.

Regards,

Emily Ishii
