From Luxembourg_Message from Ambassador

11月に本校を訪問し、講演をされた在日ルクセンブルク大使、ベアトリス・キルシュ閣下より、本校にメッセージをいただきましたので、ここで紹介いたします。

I had the pleasure to visit Otsuma Nakano Junior and Senior High School to give a lecture on the European Union and my country, Luxembourg, in November 2016.  This visit was organised by the EU Delegation in Tokyo as part of the “EU comes to your School” program.  It was a wonderful experience for me. I felt that the students are encouraged to develop passion for learning and curiosity for the world.

I sincerely hope that my presentation helped the students to understand the importance of the European project for my country as well as all the member states of the European Union. The European Union is a unique endeavor to foster peace and prosperity, common values and economic cooperation on a continent that was torn by wars and conflict for centuries.

I would like to thank the Principal, Ms Masako Miyazawa, the staff and the students for welcoming me so warmly. I was very touched by the reaction of the students to my presentation and by their presentation on their activities at their school.

I wish the school, the staff and most of all the students, all the best for their future.

キルシュ大使は、「EUがあなたの学校にやってくる」というプログラムの一環として本校を訪問いたしました。これは、EUの大使や外交官が、高等学校を訪問して、EUやその国について直接、生徒にお話をし、意見交換などのセッションを行うプログラムです。本校は都内でこのプログラムが実施された7校の1つで、また、大使が直接、訪問するのは、都内でも本校を含めて3校のみという貴重な体験をすることでき、EUの成り立ち、その機関と組織、EUの主要な成果、政策、日本との関係など、さらにはルクセンブルクのEUにおける重要性など、様々なことを学びました。

本校の生徒のフィードバックからです。「イギリスの脱退が決まった今、EUについて詳しく知れたことはとても貴重なことでした。また、EUのモットーである“多様性の中の統合”という言葉がとても心に残りました。さらにルクセンブルクのことを日本と比較して学ぶことができたことで、ヨーロッパに対する関心、興味がより深まりました。」
