From Australia Report on St. Andrew’s Catholic College 170522

Kanna Kuramoto, an exchange student from Otsuma Nakano to St. Andrew’s Catholic School, has updated her report on the life there.  She seemed to be tremendously moved at the Camp called “retreat” there in such beautiful and great nature.   We sure hope you all can share how she felt during the camp.

Hello, everyone!  This is Kanna Kuramoto from Cairns, Australia.  It has already passed half of the period of my whole stay here. Every day, I lead a full life, and I am getting to love my school more and more. This week was especially nice week! So, I’m gonna tell you about the lovely things which I experienced. Here we go!!

From Monday to Wednesday in week 5 for year10, to which I am belonging, we went to camp at Genazzano.  But it was not a normal camp, it was called “retreat” and we did something about Catholic. The camp’s purpose was knowing about “who am I?”.  We didn’t sleep in a tent.  Instead we slept on the bed at night time. So, I felt like being in a hotel and the room was very comfortable. The first day of the camp, we started to go to Genazzano by bus. Year10-5, which I belong to, has not so many students, so we took a little bus to Genazzano. In the bus, we were doing play some music, take photos, and so on. The time we were in the bus was freedom, so it was very fun. Hannah, teachers, and other friends taught me lots of things about the view, so I could increase my knowledge about Australia!

After we arrived at Genazzano, we did some sessions, listened to lectures, and had lunch. We could do lots of enjoyable things! In the sessions, we played games and learned about moral things, so the sessions were very fun for me!! Especially, the session which we did in second day was really great, impressive, and moving. The session’s content was to express our gratitude and compliment which we usually think in our mind for each other.  It makes us shy, but it was good opportunity to be obedient. We made a circle, and a teacher turned off the light and set a candle in the middle of our circle. And then, a teacher played a slowly song, and we stood up and called on a person who you wanted to say, “Thank you”. Many of my friends stood up and said grateful words. It didn’t matter about boys and girls, and we expressed our gratitude to each other. So, it was really great time and space for me. I was said “You’re brave”, “I like your smile”, “You’re trying”, and so on, so I was very happy and moved to my mind. One of my male friends was about to cry even though he always says jokes. So, I thought I have a good friend and felt super happy. During the session, I thought “What a wonderful school” and “What gentle students!!” many times.  I can declare that St. Andrews is a wonderful school.  After I went to the camp, I’m coming to love St. Andrews and my friends increasingly! So, camp was really good experience and I think I’m happy that I went to the camp.

Recently, despite holidays, I want to go to school soon. Even though there are only half period of my Cairns Life, but I’ll enjoy the life from now on too!!Thank you for reading my report. See ya!!

皆さんこんにちは！ケアンズに留学中の倉本栞汀です。ケアンズに来てから早くも１０週間のうち半分が過ぎてしまいました。毎日とても充実していて、学校をどんどん大好きになっています！今週は、特に充実した週でした！なので、今回は、今週にあった最高な出来事について書こうと思います！Here we go!!

week5の月曜から水曜まで、私のいるyear10-5と他の２クラスはGenazzanoに２泊３日のキャンプに行きました。キャンプと言っても、普通のキャンプではなく、retreatと言って、カソリックの”who am i?"という自分についてよく知るという課題を目的としたものです。部屋もホテルのようでとても快適でした！１日目は、学校からバスでGenazzanoに行くことから始まりました。私のいるクラスのyear10-5は、人数が少ないため小さめのバスで行きました。バスの中では、音楽を流したりみんなで写真を撮ったりと、とても自由な空間で楽しかったです！！バディーのHannahや、先生、他の友達などが景色の説明などをとてもよくしてくれて、オーストラリアについての知識も増やすことができました！

Genazzoについてからは、みんなでセッションをしたり、お昼を食べたりと、たくさんのことをしました！セッションでは、ゲームや道徳的なことをよくし、とてもとても楽しかったです！！特に、２日目のセッションはとても印象的で感動するものでした。普段、心の中では思っているけど口に出すのは恥ずかしい感謝や褒め言葉をみんなで輪になって伝え合うというセッションです。先生が部屋の電気を消して輪の中心にキャンドルを置き、ゆったりとした音楽を流し、手を挙げた人から立って感謝を言いたい人を指名して感謝を伝えていきます。皆、少し照れながらも男女関係なく日頃の感謝を伝え合い、素晴らしい空間でした。私も、勇敢や笑顔がいいや頑張っているなどと言ってもらい、とても嬉しく感動していました。私の友達の一人の男の子も、普段はふざけているのにそのセッションの時には涙をこらえており、いい友達を持ったな、と実感し、心が温かくなりました。”なんていい学校なんだ！”、”なんて優しい生徒がたくさんいるんだ！”と何度も思いました。本当に、St. Andrewsは素晴らしい学校です。私は、この学校とyear10の生徒が大好きです！！！キャンプに行ってから、ますますyear10のみんなのことが大好きになっています。

私のケアンズライフも残り半分となってしまいました。最近は、休日でも、早く学校に行きたいなあと思っています！これからも、残り半分、後悔のないように思い切り楽しみます！！では、また次のレポートで！See ya!!
