From New Zealand Report on New Plymouth Girls’ HS_20170606
We are definitely pleased to update our report on New Zealand students' exchange program. Kaho, one of the current exchange students who go to New Plymouth Girls' High School, has made it updated their great kiwi lives there. It would be great if you all readers could share her following report.
Hi! This is Kaho Shimada. How's everything going in Japan? It's sometimes been rainy and windy… here in New Plymouth, but it is a lovely sunny day now ! This week is really special because we have 4 holidays ! Monday was "Queen's birthday "and Tuesday is "Teacher only day ". I'll write about my long holidays ! Here we go.
On Saturday, my host father took my host sisters, her friends and me to a light house for picnic in Wellington ! We ate a delicious lunch on the grass and then we looked in the light house. Inside the house was like a museum, so we could learn about its history and how to use that house. It has a long history since 1800s. That was so cool .
After that, my host father drove us to 4 beaches. His hobby is surfing, so he knows good spots for surf. Sometimes he took me surfing near the school beach but I hadn't been to those new beaches to surf . So he promised me to go there again ! I can't wait !!!
On Sunday, I went to the town and took some pictures there. I think New Plymouth has a lot of beautiful and colorful wall paintings. So it's fun to find paintings and take pictures. Finally on Monday I had a concert with my orchestra. That concert was named "Teddy Bear Show " because the audience was mostly children. They sang ,danced and made some noises with our music so they looked very cute ! All of the Children were smiling so I was glad and I feel music has the power to make us happy. That concert made a great success !!!
I have only 4 weeks more to stay in New Zealand. It's so quick and I can't believe it ! I want to spend the rest of my kiwi life with more fulfillment!

みなさんこんにちは。島田花歩です！ ニュープリマスは暑すぎなく、寒すぎなく過ごしやすい気温ですが、時々雨が降ったり風が強い日があります。今週は"Queen's birthday "と"Teacher only day"があったためなんと4連休でした！今から私の休日を紹介したいと思います。
土曜日にホストファザー、ホストシスター、ホストシスターの友達と私でウェリントンまでピクニックに行きました。芝生の上でランチを食べた後に、近くにあった灯台の中にも入りました。中は博物館みたいになっていて、歴史や当時どのように使われていたかなど、たくさんのことを知れました。その灯台は登ることもできて、一番上の階からはタラナキ山やビーチが見えてとても綺麗でした。帰りの車の途中でホストシスター達が寝てしまったので、ホストファザーが４つのビーチにドライブしてくれました。彼はサーフィンが趣味で私も時々サーフィンに連れて行ってもらいます。いつもは学校の近くのビーチでするので、次はそこのビーチで一緒にサーフィンしようと約束もしてくれました。早く行きたいです！
日曜日は街に行って沢山写真を撮りました。ニュープリマスにはたくさんのカラフルな壁絵が書かれていて、見ているだけで楽しかったです！また建物も日本とは違ってカラフルだったり英語で文字が書かれているのでおしゃれだなと思いました。
そして昨日は私の所属するオーケストラのコンサートがありました。お客さんのほとんどが小さい子で私たちの音楽を聴きながら歌ったり、踊ったり、手を叩いたりして一緒に参加してくれました。みんな楽しそうに聴いてくれていたので私も嬉しかったですし、音楽の力って凄いなと改めて実感しました。また来週からは次のコンサートの練習があります。みんなで音を合わせて一生懸命練習していきたいです。
ニュープリマスで過ごすのもあと1ヶ月となりました。時が経つのが早く感じて今でも信じられません。残りの時間を大切にしていきたいです。
