From New Zealand-Study at New Plymouth & Sacred Heart#03

Today it started raining.

Here in New Plymouth we wake up and the temperature

is 3 or 4℃. Most of the students come to the ESOL room

wearing a coat.

We had the second ESOL class. The ESOL classes are

mainly focused on two items. One is learning communicative

English necessary for home-staying and school life in New

Zealand. The other is understanding New Zealand culture.

After spending 2days with kiwi families, every student knows

how important and effective the lessons are and everyone is

so keen on working on every activity.

The afternoon programs are something active out of the

classroom. Today we went to a shopping mall in New

Plymouth. We enjoyed and spent time eating lunch and

roaming, strolling and shopping in the mall.

今日は雨になりました。

ニュージーランドでは寒い日が続いています。朝起きると

気温は３°Cか４℃です。授業に集まってくる生徒も

コートを着たり、マフラーを巻いてくる生徒もいます。

授業はESOLの２回目です。大妻中野で長く教鞭をとって

いたテフリー先生は、生徒たちをよく理解してくれて

今週末から現地校での授業に参加することを見据えつつ

とてもプラクティカルなプログラムを用意してくれています。

ポイントはコミュニケーションと異文化理解です。

今日は、１つのトピックについてどのようにしたら会話を

続けることができるか、communication skills について

様々な活動をしました。早速ステイ先で使えるはずです。

後半はcookingに使う表現を中心に学習しました。そして、

これが今日の宿題です。

午後はショッピングセンターにみんなで行きました。

まずはお昼を個々に注文して食べました。

一息ついたらグループに分かれて行動です。

お店を見て回ったり、ショッピングを

したりして、楽しいひと時を過ごしました。

あとは家に戻って、今日はクッキングの話を

することになっています。
