Otsuma Nakano kicked off a new exchange project with a super prestigious school in America.

Students in some of our GLC Beta Classes (1-6, 3-7, 3-8) have begun an extraordinary language exchange with the Kamehameha School on Maui, located in Hawai’i, USA. The first project, which the girls did a fantastic job on, was to create books in each class to introduce themselves to the students at Kamehameha. Our students really let their creative juices flow and created wonderful, beautiful, and original books to share!

Kamehameha Schools is a private school system that provides education to over 5,000 Native Hawaiians every year. Our own Mr. Sibley is working closely with the Japanese teacher at the Maui campus, Mr. Scott, to help give our students opportunities to use their language skills with their peers on the other side of the world!

本校はどんどん新しい海外との交流プログラムを開発しています。今回は、アメリカの素晴らしい学校とのエクスチェンジを紹介します。中学生の英語βクラス生徒による文化・言語交流プログラム。アメリカ、ハワイ・マウイ島にあるカメハメハ・スクールとの交流です。まず最初は本校からのアウトリーチ。生徒たちは、カメハメハ・スクールの生徒の皆さんのために、その創造力をフルに発揮して、オリジナリティ溢れるスーパークールな自己紹介の本を作ってくれました。

カメハメハ・スクールは毎年5000人ものネィティブハワイアンに優れた教育を提供している学校です。本校教諭のMr. Sibley とこのマウイの学校の日本語の先生、Mr. Scottとのコラボ。お互いに英語と日本語の言語スキルを使って、日本とハワイとアメリカの文化を学びあいます。
