Now it’s the turn for an exchange student studying in Canada to report about her life there.  One of the international exchange student at Burnaby Mountain Secondary School, Rinka will tell you her very impressive story of her “Family Day” as a national holiday in Canada.

Hello! Everyone!  I’m Rinka, an exchange student at Burnaby Mountain Secondary School in Canada. 6 It has already been 6 months since I came to Canada. I can’t believe it!  Time flies very quickly.

Today I will let you know about the family day in Canada. In some provinces of Canada, Family Day is a statutory holiday occurring on the third Monday in February. This year’s family day is February 18. In the provinces of British Columbia (BC), Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick and Saskatchewan it is observed as Family Day. I’m live in British Colombia, so we had a family day.

Family day was enacted as a trigger to increase time spent with family, so I went skiing with my host family at Grouse Mountain on Feb,18. In order to ski there, we had to buy a ticket and get on the gondola, and we had to line up to rent ski equipment.  It was very crowded as that day was a holiday, so we made line up for about 5 hours from 10 o’clock in the morning. I was so tired. However, the Grouse Mountain’s scenery was very beautiful, and I really enjoyed it.  The following photos are the view from Grouse Mountain.  I hope you enjoy them:

I believe this day would be one of my greatest memories in Canada for me.  My days in Canada left for me are only 4 months, so I would like to make more memories in these 4 mouths.  I’m looking forward to meeting you at the next report soon. Thank you for reading my report.

皆さんこんにちは。カナダのバーナビー・マウンテン・セカンダリー・スクールに留学している凜歌です。私がカナダに来てからすでに6ヶ月が経ちました。時が経つのはとても早く、怖いくらいです。

今回のレポートでは、カナダでの祝日、ファミリーデーについてお話ししようと思います。カナダのいくつかの州では、ファミリーデーは2月の第3月曜日のことを示します。今年のファミリーデーは2月18日でした。ブリティッシュ・コロンビア（BC）、アルバータ、オンタリオ、ニュー・ブランズウィック、サスカチュワンの州で、ファミリーデーは制定されています。私はブリティッシュ・コロンビア州に住んでいるので、私たちはファミリーデーを過ごすことができました。ファミリーデーとは、家族と過ごす時間を増やすきっかけとして家族の日が制定されたものだそうです。

そのファミリーデーの日、2月18日、私は、ホストファミリーと一緒にグラウス山にスキーに行きました。スキーをするためには、チケットを購入してゴンドラに乗らなければなりません。さらに、スキー用具をレンタルするために並ぶ必要がありました。その日は休日だったのでとても混んでいて、私達は午前10時から合計で約5時間も並びました。しかし、Grouse Mountain(グラウスマウンテン)の景色はとても綺麗ですごく楽しかったです。この写真はグラウスマウンテンから撮った写真です。

このファミリーデーの日は私にとって素晴らしい思い出になりました。カナダの文化も体験できました。カナダでの生活は4ヶ月間しか残されていません。ですから、残りの時間を大切に、もっとたくさんの思い出を作りたいと思います。
