A new exchange program has started.  Otsuma Nakano has several partner schools for our students to attend as international students in New Zealand.  Sacred Heart Girl’s College in New Plymouth is one of the schools which offer great opportunities for Otsuma Nakano students to join them for a year / a term exchange program.  Aoi Gomihara, an Year 10 student of Otsuma Nakano has kicked off her exchange there at Sacred Heart Girls’ College.

Hello, everyone. I’m Aoi Gomihara, an exchange student studying at Sacred Heart Girl’s College, in New Plymouth, New Zealand.  Now two weeks have passed two weeks since I arrived here.  It’ been nice weather these days, so it’s comfortable. Also, I can sometimes see rainbows.

It was busy this week, because my school started.  It’s very hard to catch up with the classes and to make communication with local friends.  Kiwi people speak very fast, so it’s difficult for me to join their conversations.  So, I have decided that I’ll make an effort to improve my English listening ability first of all.  I am trying to listen to their conversation.

Next, I’ll report about my life with host family. My host family are my host father, host mother and host sister.  My host father is very kind and he teaches me many things.  My host mother likes cooking and she makes delicious meals and sweets for me.  My host sister is a very active girl and I sometimes enjoy  running with her.

My host mother likes card games. She teaches many games for me. On the other day, I played CANASTA with my host mother and host sister. CANASTA is very difficult and confusing, so I couldn’t understand anything about this game at first. But I’m starting to understand it now.

What’s more topic I would like to share is that I visited “alpacas for sale” on this weekend.  I could give bait for alpacas. And baby alpacas are so cute. They are small and they have soft hair.  It was my first time to interact with alpacas, so it was very good experience for me.

I would like to do my best in anything from now on in New Zealand as well as so far.

皆さんこんにちは。セイクレッド・ハート･ガールズ・カレッジに留学中の五味原葵です。 ニュージーランドに来てから約2週間がたちました。最近は天気が良くとても過ごしやすいです。ニュージーランドではよく虹を見ることができます！

先週は私にとってとても濃い1週間でした。なぜなら学校が始まったからです！学校では授業についていくことも友達とコミュニケーションをとるのもとても大変です。周りの人達はとても早く英語を話すので今の私にはなかなか話に入ることが出来ません。ですから、私はまずリスニング力をつけていこうと思い、話を聞くことを頑張っています！

次にホストファミリーとの生活について報告します！私のホストファミリーはホストファザーとホストマザーとホストシスターです。ホストファザーはとても優しく私に色々なことを教えてくれます。ホストマザーは料理が趣味で毎日美味しい食事やデザートを作ってくれます。ホストシスターはとても元気で一緒にランニングをしたりしています。

また、私のホストマザーはカードゲームが好きで私に色々なゲームを教えてくれます。私はカナスタというゲームをやりました。カナスタはとても難しいため最初は全然理解出来ませんでしたが少し分かるようになってきました。

この週末、私はホストファミリーとアルパカフォーセールスという場所に行きました。そこにはたくさんのアルパカがいてエサをあげることが出来ます！  また、赤ちゃんアルパカが小さくて毛がふわふわしていてとてもかわいかったです。アルパカとふれあうのは初めてのだったので、とても良い思い出となりました。

私はこれからも頑張っていきます！
