From New Zealand – Another report on Sacred Heart Girls HS
Another exchange student at Sacred Heart Girls’ College in New Zealand shares with you an updated exchange report.
Hi everyone! I’m Ayaka Ogake, an exchange student studying at Sacred Heart Girl’s Collage in New Zealand. I have spent about four weeks here. I have had many memories in New Zealand. From now, I’m going to talk about my memories to you in this report.
My host family likes to sing many songs. So, everyday the life with my host family is very lively. My host mother’s job is a teacher. So, she is always teaching me about English grammar and helping me anything. My host father likes to watch rugby games and he is a knowledgeable person. So, he also teaches me the rules of rugby and Kiwi slangs. My host sister is an exchange student from Brazil and model. So, she likes to take pictures. I was like a camera woman for her. But, I said to her, “I want to take pictures for myself.” I solved this little problem. Now, I’m enjoying my New Zealand life.
I went to a lighthouse with my host parents. The lighthouse is far from my house. But I like driving with my host family and wanted to go to lighthouse. So, I’m glad l went to the lighthouse. There were many nice views on the way. For example, beach, cliffs and the mountain.
Next, I’m going to talk about my school. My new friends are very kind. They teach me vocabulary and help me with my study. We went to Waitara last Friday by bus. We sang songs in the bus. It was really funny. Waitara is the name of the town. We had a retreat. I really enjoyed it. We didn’t wear the school uniform. We went to church with little kids. Sacred Heart Girls’ Collage is a Christian school. So, I had a lot of fresh experiences. We played games. I made a heart out of fabric. It was so fun. We watched a video. The video gave me advice that everyone should get confidence and believe that you are more beautiful than you think.
Finally, I’m going to talk about sports. I played American dodgeball. The rules of the game are different from those in Japan. I like American dodgeball better than Japanese dodgeball. I wanted to play sports. So, I tried to play tennis in Pukekura tennis club. But the club is expensive. So, I changed tennis to netball and volleyball as for my sports. I belong to a netball team and a volleyball team. Netball is like basketball. But it has a lot of detailed rules. I played Multi sports in PE class. Multi sports is four games in one. When the teacher calls , the sport is changed. I love sports. I played many sports. So, I’m really enjoying New Zealand life!!!
Thank you so much for reading.
