Now another final report reached us from Queensland, Australia.  A term 2 exchange at St. Andrew’s Catholic College, Hinako Murata, shares with you her last note!

Hello! everyone!! I am Hinako Murata, one of the exchange students at St. Andrews Catholic College in Queensland, Australia. This is my final report about my Australian life with people here. I am now already in week 8, so only 2 weeks for me to go!! In this report, I am going to talk about what I experienced in my recent few weeks.

First, I would like to share with you a thing about the rugby league game.  An Australian rugby league game kicked off on June 5. This was the game match between QLD(Maroons) vs NSW(Blues). My host mother, host sister and I supported the Maroons. My host father supported the Blues. My host father bought a matching  QLD support T-shirt for me and host sister.  It’s fantastic!!

We watched this rugby game wearing the support T-shirt and eating chips. The QLD won the game, so I was very happy!  What’s more, I was very surprised that many people were betting on this rugby game on TV.

Next, I would like to talk about my host sister’s birthday party on June 8th. My host sister, Emma, turned 8 years old on the day of May 31st.  This party’s concept was Hawaiian Pool Party, so, she and her friends wore Hawaiian costumes. In the party, we got pineapple bottles and Hawaiian accessory. More than 20 people joined her party to enjoy themselves.  We sang a birthday song and ate hamburgers and cakes etc…  It was very fun memory in my Australia life.

Finally, I would like to report about the purple day at St. Andrew’s.  It is a day to raise awareness of epilepsy. We wore many purple accessories and we bought many kinds of foods for charity. I tied my hair with purple ribbon tie and bought a cap cake. I had not thought that such many people would participate in this kind of charity activities at school. So, I was very surprised that almost all of the students were participating in the purple day charity.

皆さんこんにちは！オーストラリアのセントアンドリュースカソリックカレッジに留学中の村田日向子です。今はウィーク8で私がオーストラリアにいられるのも残り2週間となりました。今回のレポートでは最近の出来事についてお話したいと思います！

まず初めに、6月5日に行われたオーストラリアンフットボールの試合についてお話します！この試合ではクイーンズランド（マルーンズ）対ニューサウスウェールズ（ブルーズ）が戦っていました。私のホストファザーはブルーズを応援して、私とホストマザーとホストシスターはマルーンズを応援してました。この日のためにホストファザーは私とホストシスターにサポートTシャツを買ってくださいました。私達はサポートTシャツを着て、ポテトチップスを食べながら応援していました。試合はクイーンズランドが勝ったのでとても嬉しかったです！また、テレビで大々的にこの試合に対して賭け事していたことにはとても衝撃的でした！

次に先日行われたホストシスターの誕生日会について、お話します。私のホストシスターのエマは今年で8歳になりました。このパーティーのコンセプトは、ハワイアンプール・パーティーだったのでエマやエマの友達はハワイアンガールのコスチュームを着て楽しんでいました。当日は20人以上の友達やその家族が招待されていて、バースデーソングを歌ったりレーキやハンバーガーを食べたりしました。この日は私にとってとっても良い思い出になりました！！

最後に6月14日に行われたパープルデイについてお話します。パープルデイとは世界中で行われているてんかんの啓発キャンペーンのことです。この日は学校に紫色のアクセサリーをつけて行きます。そして、この日は学校でチャリティーの一環として屋台に色々な食べ物が売られていました。ですから、私は紫色のゴムで髪を結んでいき、お昼にはカップケーキを買いました。

私は学校で行っているチャリティー活動にはあまり多くの人が参加しないイメージがあったので多くの生徒がこの活動に参加していたことには驚きました！
