Now another updated report reached us from New Plymouth, NZ.  Hikaru will let you know her daily life there in New Zealand.

Hi, I’m Hikaru Kito, an exchange student studying at New Plymouth Girls High School in New Plymouth, New Zealand. I can spend a fulfilling day thanks to the teachers, my host family and my friends. Recently, sudden heavy rain comes a lot. My host mother said that it rains a lot like this in winter.

Today I’ll report about what happens in a week. I participate in badminton practice after school on Monday and after school on Tuesday. There are a lot of international students. It’s a good chance when we can make new friends. Actually, I made friends who are from China and Korea. I have rarely played ever before. But I enjoy playing badminton very much.

On every Thursday, we have Asian Media Club during lunch our time.  This is a club where people who like K-POP music, Japanese dramas, Korean dramas and anime get together to watch dramas and anime, and listen to music.  I like K-POP music. So I really like this time.　It is so fun because many people with the same hobby gather together and enjoy it.

Finally, I spend most of weekends with my host family and friends. Today, I made a tree house’s window with my host father. There is a tree house where children play in the garden and we installed a window there. I did use some power tools for the first and insert screws. As my host father is an architect, he has many tools that I have never seen before, and he teaches me many things. The picture below shows the window we made today.

ニュー・プリマス・ガールズ・ハイスクールに留学している鬼頭光です。先生方やホストファミリー、友達のおかげで充実した日々を過ごせています。最近こちらでは、突然ものすごく強い雨が降ることが多々あります。このような雨はニュージーランドでは冬の間はたくさんあるそうです。今日は私が一週間でどんなことをしているかについてレポートを書きます。

まず月曜日の放課後と火曜日の放課後に私はバトミントンの練習に参加しています。バトミントンの練習にはたくさんのインターナショナル生が来ていてともだちを作るいい機会になっています。あまりバトミントンをしたことはありませんでしたが、とても楽しく練習しています。

毎週木曜日にはアジアンメディアクラブというものが昼休みにあります。これはアジアの曲やドラマが好きな人が集まり、いっしょに日本や韓国のドラマを見たり、kpopを聞いたりします。私はkpopが好きなのでこの時間がとても好きです。また同じ趣味を持つ人たちで一緒に盛り上がれるのでとても楽しいです。

最後に週末はホストファミリーや友達と過ごしています。今日はホストファザーとツリーハウスの窓を作りました。庭に子供たちが遊ぶツリーハウスがあり、そこに窓を付けました。わたしは初めて電動ドリルを使ってねじをはめました。ホストファザーは建築家の仕事をしているので、たくさんみたことないような道具を持っていて色々なことを教えてくれます。下の写真は今日作った窓です。
