From New Zealand – Missing all of Sacred Heart Girls College
Now it’s great for all of us, Otsuma Nakano, to share the final report updated recently by Haruka Nishida about her exchange at Sacred Heart Girls College in New Plymouth, New Zealand.
Hello. I’m Haruka Nishida, an exchange student at Sacred Heart Girls College in New Zealand. I have completed my exchange at the school. So, I would like to reflect the 10 weeks for me to attend this school in this final report. During the last week of my days in New Zealand, everything that I did this week was the “last” and I couldn’t help feeling sad. Still, I realized how meaningful and splendid 10 weeks I had spent. I had plenty of lovely encounters in New Zealand.
Looking back, at the Deans meeting(a meeting which we have every Thursday after lunch), few girls came to join the meeting and presented the new school uniforms which they are trying to make it official. It is the pants. The girls made a great presentation. I have thought several things about this meeting.
First of all the girls were only 13 years old or so. To start such a project is not an easy task for them to do. I was marveled how wise and intelligent they are. Secondly, it seemed that the school were very cooperative. I’m sure there will be lots of works to do for school for this project, but the teachers took positive attitude toward this project. Since I have been doing a similar project in Japan, when I sensed the teachers’ attitude about it, I was quite surprised. I hope this project will succeed. Nowadays diverse genders are being penetrated all over the world. The fact that this project is done in this school shows how the school is starting to adjust to the society.
I will miss my host family who warmly over watched me, all the friends who has been nice to me and welcomed me with kindness, teachers who has supported me, and many adults who has always been taking care of me. I have too many things to appreciate and I can never thank them good enough.
Lastly, I think these 10 weeks were the great opportunity when I felt people’s kindness and had many new discoveries. I found out things that I wouldn’t realize in Japan. The time I spent here will be an amazing memory that I will never forget for the rest of my life.
Thank you for reading my report.
