Hello! Everyone. This is Rikako Yasuda from Ireland. I am studying abroad at Dundalk Grammar School in Dundalk, Ireland.  It’s been almost one month since I started my life here in Dundalk. It is getting cold and there are lots of rain.  Anyhow, in this report, I would like to introduce my school and TY school trip.

There are many oversea students in my 4th grade such as Spanish, German, Russian, Ukrainian, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Nigerian.  Each class has 20 percent of international students.  It is very beneficial environment for us, because we can share our culture, language, religion, food and so on.  Also, my friends can do greeting to use Japanese. So, when I meet with my friends, they say, “Konnichiwa” to me. I am so happy.

By the way, my grade at this school is called “Transition Year”.  During the 4th grade we can do many types of activities and experience to find our own future dream.  We are not supposed to have a big exam in this 4^th grade, so now I am trying many things such as school council, musical, choir, Save the earth project and house riding. They are so hard, but it is great chance to improve my English skill and to make friends.

Next I will talk about my school trip in Donegal. We went to Donegal for 4 days, which is about 3 hours north of Dundalk by bus. They were a lot of nature and fresh air. We tried many activities such as surfing, cliff diving, hill the mountain, adventure challenge, camp fire and night walk.  All were fantastic! Among them, cliff diving was my best experience. It is my first time to swim in the sea and I could jump overboard. I really want to do it again!!!  Meanwhile, when I climbed up to the mountain and reached to the top, I was so tired, but the view was awesome. Through this trip, I could make many friends and I could feel real Ireland in Donegal.

I will study even harder from now on, and I want to give it my best try to many things which I can’t do in Japan.  Thank you for reading my report.

みなさん、こんにちは。アイルランドのダンドークグラマーハイスクールに留学している安田理花子です。私の学校生活は一ヶ月が経とうとしています。ダンドークはだんだん寒くなり雨もたくさん降るようになりました。さて、このリポートでは学校のことと学年旅行について話したいと思います。

私の学校にはたくさんの留学生がいます。私の学年にはスペイン人、ドイツ人、ロシア人、ウクライナ人、タイ人、中国人、インド人、ナイジェリア人がいて、各クラスの20％が留学生です。私たち留学生にとってとても嬉しいことでそれぞれの文化や言語、宗教そして食べ物について交流することができます。そのため私に会う度に彼らは「こんにちは」とあいさつをしてくれました。まだ緊張していたときなのでより嬉しかったです。

話は変わりますが、私の学年は「トラディッションイヤー」という特別なプログラムを行う学年で、自分の将来を見つけるために様々なアクティビティや経験を授業やオプションですることができます。またTYには大きなテストがないので私はたくさんのことに挑戦しています。生徒会やミュージカル、合唱、地球を守ろうプロジェクトそして授業では乗馬に今取り組んでいます。これらはとても大変ですが、英語のスキルを上げたり、友達を作る良い機会なので一生懸命頑張ります。

次にドニゴールの学年旅行について話します。私たちはダンドークから北にバスで3時間かけてあるドニゴールに4日間行きました。そこはたくさんの自然に恵まれ空気もおいしかったです。私たちはサーフィン、飛び込み、山登り、アドベンチャーチャレンジ、キャンプファイヤー、ナイトウォークに挑戦しました。どれも素晴らしかったのですが、中でも飛び込みは一番の良い経験になりました。私は人生で初めて海で泳ぎ、崖から飛び込むことができました。もう一回やりたいです!!!一方で山に登り頂上にたどり着いたときはとっても疲れましたが眺めは最高でした。この旅行を通じてたくさんの友達を作ることができたと同時に本当のアイルランドをドニゴールで感じることができました。

もっとこれから頑張るとともに、日本ではできない経験をたくさん挑戦していきたいです。最後まで読んでいただきありがとうございました。
