From Burnaby, Canada – School Life to Kick Off at Burnaby Mountain SS
Another updated report reached us from Burnaby, Canada. Akari Funanami, who is now studying at Burnaby Mountain Secondary School as a one-year exchange student, will share her experience in Canada!
Hi, everyone. I’m Akari Funanami and I’m an international exchange student in Burnaby Mountain Secondary school in Canada. Now time passes very quickly. A month has passed since I arrived Canada. In this report, I am going to share what was going on my orientation and what I am now doing at school.
I arrived in Canada on last August 25th, and I went to my host family for homestay soon. My host family was willing to accept me from the beginning, which made me much relieved. On the next day, I had an English placement test. This test was done for the purpose to check out my English level. The content of this test was Reading, Writing and Speaking. Speaking was the most difficult for me. But now I have been giving it my best try to speak out English!
The next topic is the story about my visiting to Grouse mountain. On August 29th, I went there by gondola. The scenery was really beautiful there. I was definitely amazed.
Now let’s move on to the next topic, which is my school in Canada. At this school, Burnaby Mountain Secondary, I can choose my subject to study. So, I have 9 subjects. It is ELL 4 subjects and mathematics. Physical Education, Dance, Photography, Chorus. The class is divided into 4 hours a day. So, the timetable is repeated every day alternately. Chorus is a class before classes. Chorus starts at 7:20 in the morning. So, it is very hard. And this school Ell class is made up of Level 1 to Level 4 and I now belong to the Level 1 class. So, I want to work hard to study English and go up to the upper Ell class soon.
Tomorrow, I have a chorus class, so I have to get up early. I also want to study English more.
Thank you for reading!
