From Heidelberg, Germany, Otsuma Nakano new exchange program has kicked off in Germany. Yui Sano, one of the pioneer participants reports her exchange school life in Germany.

I’m Yuki Sano, an exchange student studying in Heidelberg, Germany.  This exchange program in Germany I am participating in now is a new program for Otsuma Nakano.

Today, I will talk about school and the Boarding School where I am studying.  First, the school we are going to is an international school, so we take classes in English not in Germany, even though we have Germany classes.  Main subjects are not different from subjects in Japan, but the class content is very different.

The first picture is our school timetable. School begins at 7:55, that is too early!  In the lunch break, we can go to a cafeteria, to eat a free meal or we can go out and buy lunch.  Students use laptops. We have something called “ManageBac”. That is an account for us to share class work and homework. Compared to Japan we have fewer classmates. So the class teachers can see each member of the class.

Second, I will introduce a transportation in Heidelberg.  We go by tram to school.  German trams are different from Japanese ones.  German trams are very quiet, like electric cars.  We have to push a button to open the door, but it’s so good to close it again, because Germany is cold!

I think I want to go sightseeing and have various experiences from now on.  Thank you for reading my report.

こんにちは、ドイツのハイデルベルクにターム留学中の佐野優希です。このドイツの留学プログラムは、大妻中野の新しいプログラムです。

今回はドイツでの授業や寮について書きたいと思います。 まず、私たちが通っているのはインターナショナルスクールなのでドイツではありますが英語で授業が行われています。主な授業の科目は日本とは変わりませんが、授業の進め方などは大きな違いがあります。

写真の一枚目が時間割ですが、朝が7:55〜ととても早いです。また、休み時間も毎時間ごとでは無く、2時間に1回20分の休み時間があります。 お昼の時間には食堂を利用することができ、予約していれば無料でお昼を食べることができます。基本的にはドイツの食事やイタリアンなどから選ぶことができます。その他にも外出が可能なので、外でお昼を買って食べることも可能です。

授業はどの授業もPCを使って行われます。それぞれにManage Bacと呼ばれる授業内容や宿題を共有できるアカウントが与えられ、それを利用しながら授業を行います。 日本と比べて1クラスの人数が少ないので、授業の進みは比較的ゆっくりで、科目によっては一人一人見るような場合もあります。

学校と寮の行き来にはトラムを使用しています。日本の路面電車とは違い、とても静かに動きます。イメージとしては、日本の電気自動車に近いです。また、乗り降りの際にはドアについているボタンを押すと開くため、人が降りない場合にはドアが開きません。ドイツは日本と同じく冬でとても寒いので、このシステムはとても有難いです。

ドイツと日本では違う点が多く、まだ時差にも慣れていないので、これから観光など様々な体験もできればいいと思っています。 レポートを読んでいただき、ありがとうございました。
