From New Zealand, Report from Reika N. at New Plymouth Girls High School 020920

Hello, everyone. I’m Reika Nishimura. I’m studying abroad in New Zealand for three mouth. Now two weeks have passed since I came here. New Zealand is in the middle of summer.  Summer in New Zealand is cooler than Japanese summer, so I’m very comfortable.  In New Zealand, the sunset is late now and it is bright until  8pm.

These two weeks have been very hard for me because kiwi people speak English very fast, so it is difficult for me listen to what they is said in English. However, I decided that I would give it my best try to make communication with them as much as possible.

The next topic is about my hostel life.　The hostel is in the school campus, and I can get to my home room classroom in three minutes. I always get up seven o’clock on weekdays. When I get up, I go to the cafeteria to have breakfast.　After having breakfast, we make our lunch by ourselves. I often make sandwich for lunch, but I couldn’t make it well at first.  After school, afternoon tea is available in the hostel. We can eat cake and fruits during afternoon tea. I have “study time” from 18:30 to 19:45 from Monday to Thursday in the dormitory. I am able to go out for a long time on holidays, so I went to the center city and went to the sea.　 I want to do what I can do only in New Zealand.  Thank you for reading my report.

こんにちはニュープリマス・ガールズ・ハイスクールに、3ヶ月留学中の西村玲伽です。ニュージーランドに来てから2週間が経ちました。ニュージーランドは今、夏ですが、日本の夏より気温が低くとても過ごしやすいです。そして日が沈むのが遅く20時でとても明るいです。

この2週間は私にとって大変な時間でした。なぜなら、現地の人の英語は、とても早く何を言ってるのかを聞き取るのがとても大変だったからです。これから諦めずに積極的に話しかけようと思います。

次に寮の話をします　寮は学校の敷地内にあり、私のホームルームの教室まで3分で行くことができます。私は普段7時に起き、食堂で朝食を食べます。そして朝食が終わった後、自分たちでお弁当を作ります。私はよくサンドイッチを作るのですが、最初はきれいに作れませんでした。学校が終わった後、アフタヌーンティーがありケーキやフルーツが食べれます。寮では月曜から木曜の間18:30から19:40分まで勉強時間があります。休日は長い時間出かけることができ、私はセンターシティと海に行きました。

私はこれからニュージーランドでしか出来ないことをやっていきたいです。読んでくださりありがとうございます。
