昨年、中止になっていたEU Comes to Your School – 「EUがあなたの学校にやってくる」が、11月8日、大妻中野に帰ってきました！このプログラムは、駐日欧州連合（EU）代表部ならびにEU加盟国大使館の外交官が、「EUがあなたの学校にやってくる」プロジェクトの下、日本各地でEUや自身の出身国について出張授業を行うものです。

今日のEUの礎となったローマ条約調印50周年の節目であった2007年に始まり、以来毎年成功を収めているこの「EUがやってくる」出張授業は、EU加盟国の在日大使館の方々が学校を訪問し、EUの成り立ちや今日の世界で果たしている役割、また日本との関係のほか、EU加盟国の多種多様な歴史や文化などを紹介することで、青少年の世界に関する知識を広める機会を提供しています。

本校ではこれまで、ギリシア、ルクセンブルグ、アイルランドの大使館から、そして、前回、2018年は、ラトビア全権大使のマスィ―大使が訪問。今回で5回目を迎える「EUがやってくる」プログラムの常連校です。今年は縁があり、前回と同じラトビア大使館から、アンジェイス・カシェヴスキス参事官をお迎えして、本校の中学3年生、高校1年生、高校2年生の合計約670名が、対面会場とリモート配信による教室視聴の2つの形式でお話を伺いました。

また、講演の後、別室で本校の中学3年生たちが、今度は本校についてのプレゼンテーションを、英語でアンジェイス参事官に行いました。本校のカリキュラム、本校の特徴などについてです。　アンジェィス参事官は、様々な取り組みがある本校の活動について質問され、生徒たちは英語でしっかりと答えていました。

プレゼンの後は、アンジェイス参事官と緊張しながらも、打ち解けてのやり取り。この時間が実は生徒たちにとって、最も貴重で楽しい時間だったようです。

EUの理念「多様性のもとに団結する」という考え方を改めて学んだと共に、この理想を共有する学校として、本校は今後も教育に取り組んでいきます。

On Nov. ８th, 2021, Otsuma Nakano again welcomed the program of  “EU comes to your school” and Head Councilor Andzejs Kasevskis from Embassy of Republic of Latvia in Japan.

Thanks to Councilor Andzejs, Otsuma Nakano students learned the process of forging the European Union and it has been making every single effort to work together to ensure the stability, peace and prosperity of these countries.  The most important motto of the EU is “United in Diversity”, which refers to the 2 key ideals, “Cooperation not confrontation” and “Living without borders.”

Councilor Andzejs made a very impressive and insightful presentation to us about her country Latvia with many images of beautiful landscapes and historical architecture.  He let us know a lot of information about Latvia like its long history, its education system, the process of joining the EU, languages, products and sightseeing spots. All of the students and teachers of Otsuma Nakano enjoyed his special explanation about how beautiful and attractive the country of Latvia is!

After his presentation, several representative students from G9 of Otsuma Nakano gave a special presentation in English about Otsuma Nakano to Councilor Andzejs.  He looked so interested in their presentation and asked some questions about the curriculum and our students’ daily school life here at Otsuma Nakano.

Our journey into the education for global context with our respect for diversity and cooperation is never ending, just like the quest of the EU for their ideals.
