Hello, I’m F.T. and  I’m a term exchange student in Heidelberg, Germany.   As for the 3 months for my studying abroad,  I have passed the halfway point and it’s time to think about what to bring back to Japan. In this article, I would like to introduce the places I visited this month and what I am doing in class.

First of all, in class, we often talk about our experiences, learn grammar, listen to music, and others.   Recently, we have been discussing the issues of Ukraine and Russia, which are the lands linked to Germany, and watching the president’s speech with subtitles before starting class. I go to a language school, which is called F+U Academy,  so there are Ukrainians and Russians in the class. I feel this issue is quite close to my heart.  We are all praying that things will settle down as soon as possible together.

And on weekends, I often go out. So let me tell you about Mannheim, which I visited this month. It took me 30 minutes to get to Mannheim by train and about an hour by streetcar. In Mannheim, I saw the water tower, the university, the church, and the castle. We went to Marktplatz, where there were many food stalls. The people at the stalls were very kind and friendly, and I enjoyed shopping with them.

I only have about a month left. I’m going to visit many places and enjoy Germany so that I won’ t have any regrets.

こんにちは、 ドイツの ハイデルベルク で ターム留学 を しています F.T. です。３ ヶ月 間 の留学も 折り返し地点を過ぎ 、 日本に 何を持って帰ろうか考える頃に なってきました。今回は 私が 今月訪れた場所や授業で どのようなことを やっているかの 紹介を させて頂きます。

私の授業についてです。授業では 自分 の 経験を話したり、文法を学ぶこと 、 リスニングを したりということが多いのですが ここ最近では ドイツ とは陸つながりの ウクライナと ロ シアの 問題について意見を言ったり、　また、 大統領のスピーチを字幕で見てから、授業に 入ることが多いです 。 私は、語学学校で留学しているので、同じ学校にウクライナ人やロシア人の人達もいます。この問題をとても身近に感じます。 少しでも早く事態が 落ち着くことを皆で祈っています 。

週末にはよく外出しています。 そこで 私が 今月 訪れた マンハイムについて 紹介します 。 マンハイムまでは 電車で 30 分 、 トラムで 1 時間ほどで到着します。 マンハイムでは 給水塔 、 大学 、 教会 、 城を見てきました 。 どれも 絵本の 世界の ような 年季の入った おしゃれな建物で、圧巻でした 。 Marktplatz という多くの 屋台が出ているところに行きました 。 お店の方々が とても優しく気さくな方々 で 買い物も できて 楽しかったです 。

ドイツの留学も残り、約 1 ヶ月 になりました。 悔いが残らないように たくさんのところを訪れてドイツ を 楽しもうと思います 。

Hello everyone, this is M.T., a high school sophomore studying abroad in Canada.

In this report, I would like to write about an activity that I was impressed with at school.  It’s called Respect and Diversity activities, and it’s a project to have current students play games from their home countries. The students who are taking a career class cooperated in this project. Career classes focus on current events not only in Canada, but also in the world, and by having their own opinions, discussions, and presentations, they can make new discoveries and use them for their future. By the way, there are several types of career classes, and the one I am taking consists of only international students, and 8 out of 14 students are Japanese, which is almost all Japanese. It suits the purpose of this project, but depending on what it is, they may also have classes with Canadian students.

We Japanese students were divided into two teams and prepared to experience Japanese traditional games such as Fuku-warai, origami, red bean carrying game, paper sumo, and Menko. I was in charge of the Fuku warai and Paper sumo, and the Fuku warai was very popular. I felt very proud of Japan for creating a game that is loved not only by people of different nationalities, but also by people of all ages.

皆さんこんにちは、カナダに留学中の高校二年生のM.Tです。

今回は、学校での印象的だった活動について書きたいと思います。それはRespect and Diversity activities というもので、自分の出身国の遊びを在校生に体験をしてもらうというものです。これは、キャリアの授業を取っている生徒がこの企画に協力しました。キャリアの授業とはカナダ国内だけではなく、世界の時事問題にフォーカスし、自分自身の意見を持ち、ディスカッションしたり、プレゼンテーションすることで、新たな発見ができ、将来に役立てようというのを目的としたものです。ちなみに、一口にキャリアの授業といっても、何種類かあり、私の取っているのは留学生だけで構成されており、14人中8人が日本人と、ほとんどが日本人です。この企画の趣旨に合っていますが、ものによっては、カナディアンの生徒と一緒に授業することもあるのだとか。

私たち日本留学生は、日本の伝承遊びである、福笑い、折り紙、小豆運びゲーム、紙相撲、メンコを体験してもらうために、２チームに分かれて準備しました。私は、福笑いと紙相撲を担当したのですが、福笑いがとても好評でした。国籍だけではなく、時代をも超えて愛される遊びを作った日本がとても誇らしく感じました。 お読みいただき、ありがとうございました。

Hello, I’m H.I. and studying abroad in Alberta, Canada. It has been six months since I came to study in Canada.  This month, I moved my accommodation from a dormitory to a homestay because the semester has changed and I wanted to increase my experience.

Even though it was the same study abroad program, the rules and regulations of each place change when you stay in a different place, so there were many difficulties. However, I had many experiences such as cooking Korean food with my host mother, watching TV with my host mother and host father, and being taken shopping. I am looking forward to the next four months!

I was a little confused about how to talk to the Canadian, but I was able to ask the Canadian  what I didn’t understand, talk about my daily life with  Canadian sitting next to me on the bus, and make friends with the local Canadian. After school, I go out with my local friends and have a lot of fun!

This month, many things have changed, and I am not used to this environment, but thanks to my friends and host family, I was able to spend a safe month! There are still four months left, but I want to be more proactive in talking to my host family and classmates so that I can experience more things!    Thank you for reading.

カナダ、アルバータ州に留学をしているH.I.です。カナダ留学にきてから6ヶ月が経過しました。 今月は学期が変わったと言うこともあり自分の経験を増やすということも含め滞在先を寮からホームステイへと移動しました。

同じ留学であっても滞在先が違うだけでそれぞれの場所のルールや規則などが変わるため色々大変な部分はありますが、その中でもホストマザーの母国である韓国の料理を一緒に作って教えてもらうなど、ホストマザーやホストファザーと一緒にテレビを見たり、お買い物に連れてって貰えたりとほんとにたくさんの経験をさせていただきました。　残りの4ヶ月間も楽しみです！

また、学校では学期が変わったことでクラスが変わり、前学期でのクラスメイトとも離れてしまい、カナディアンの子たちにどう話しかければ良いか少し戸惑いはありました。　しかし、わからないことをカナディアンの子に質問するなど、バスで隣に座っている子とその日あった事を話すなど、現地の友達と放課後一緒に遊びに行くなどとすごく楽しませていただいてます！

今月は、色々なことが変化したため慣れない環境ではありますが、周りにいる友達やホストファミリーのおかげで安心した1ヶ月を過ごせることができました！まだあと4ヶ月間ありますが、もっと色々なことが経験できるようにホストファミリーやクラスメイトの子にもっと積極的に話しかけるなどしていきたいです！　ご清覧ありがとうございました。

Hi, I am R.W. studying at Golden Hills in Canada.  January was the cold season enough to be below -30 °.  When you go outside, your lashes will freeze and your bangs will freeze.

I’m taking a dance class at school and had a recital in January.  Everyone desperately thought about dancing for the recital, and each one shared their opinions and cooperated.  And it was hard to think about dance costumes by ourselves.

On the day of the recital, I feel that the rehearsal has further strengthened our unity.  During the dance class for two hours in a row, the students gathered in the hall to see it, and after school, parents came to see it twice.  It was very difficult, but it was a very good experience.  I was impressed with the dance because I can communicate with everyone even in different countries and languages, and I can get along well.  It was a lot of fun.  And I am very glad that the teacher is very kind and welcomes international students.  So I will dance in the next semester as well.   I will do my best with everyone again.

カナダ、ゴールデンヒルズに留学しているR.W. です。先月の1月は－30°以下の時もあるぐらいで、ものすごく寒いかったです。外に出たらまつ毛が氷前髪も凍ります。

私は学校でダンスのクラスを取っており、1月はその発表会がありました。その発表会に向けてみんな必死にダンスを考え、一人一人が意見を出し合って協力していました。そしてダンスの衣装も自分たちで考え、大変でした。発表会当日はリハーサルをしたりして一段と団結力が高まった気がします。２時間連続のダンスの授業の時に生徒がホールに集まり見てもらったり放課後には保護者が来て見てもらったり2回しました。とても大変でしたが凄くいい経験になりました。ダンスは国が違くても、言語が違くてもみんなと通じ合える、仲良くなれるのでとてもいい、感動しました。とても楽しかったです。そして先生もすごく優しくて留学生を大歓迎してくださる先生なのでとても良かったです。なので次の学期も私はダンスを取ります。またみんなと頑張ります。
