2023年12月17日、2023年度全国高校生フォーラムに、SGHネットワーク校として本校代表の高校2年生のチーム4名が出場しました。この全国高校生フォーラムは、文部科学省が実施しているＷＷＬ（ワールド・ワイド・ラーニング）コンソーシアム構築支援事業及びスーパーグローバルハイスクール（ＳＧＨ）ネットワークに取り組んでいる高校生が一堂に会し、日頃取り組んでいるグローバルな社会課題への解決に向けた提案を英語でプレゼンテーションするものです。本校のこの全国フォーラムへの出場は、２2018、2019、2021、2022年にt続いての５回目のチャレンジとなりました。

今回の本校代表チームは、「日本におけるメンタルヘルスへの対応における課題とその改善に向けて」をテーマに、英語で、海外と日本におけるメンタルヘルスサポートの状況を比較し、日本の課題とその原因、解決策について探究し、発表しました。

また、このフォーラムでは、全国のWWL校、SGH校の代表生徒と英語でディスカッションを行い、交流します。今回のテーマは、”Diversity”.   本校が得意とするトピックです。刺激に満ちたディスカッションを楽しむことができました。以下、出場した本校生徒の振り返りsummary です。

On December 17th, we presented our poster at the All Japan High School Forum hosted by MEXT. In the morning, we had the poster presentation, and in the afternoon, we had a discussion about diversity with students from other schools.

The days leading up to the contest were spent researching, creating the poster, writing the script, and practicing. It was very difficult to manage both finals and the poster, but we worked as a team and managed to get it done. The day before the contest, we stayed up late practicing and on the day of the contest, we did our best. We chose to research about mental health stigma in Japan, considering that Japan had a high suicide rate and people don’t often talk about mental health with others. We also came up with relevant solutions to get rid of the mental health stigma. Moreover, we got to watch other schools present their poster as well, and all of them were very well done.

During the discussion, my group talked about gender diversity and the issues surrounding it. We had to give a four-minute presentation at the end, and we decided to talk about school uniforms. We were able to discuss what the solutions to change the awareness of people regarding school uniforms and what we as high school students can do.

Overall, although we did not win any awards, the presentation went well and so did the discussion. It was an excellent way to learn how to research and gather data and be able to present it.

12月17日に、私たちは文部科学省が主催している全国高校生フォーラムで発表をしました。午前中にポスターのプレゼン、午後に他校の生徒との多様性についてのディスカッションがありました。他の高校の発表を見ることができ、どの学校も刺激的で、素晴らしかったです。

当日まではリサーチ、ポスターの作成、原稿の作成と練習を行っていました。学期末テストなどがあり大変でしたが、チームみんなで取り組んで完成させ、練習を重ね、当日は私たちのベストを尽くしました。私たちは日本では自殺率が高く、あまり精神疾患について議論する環境がない日本での精神疾患の偏見について調べました。さらに、この問題に対してオリジナルな解決策を考えました。

ディスカッショングループではジェンダーの多様性について話し合いました。最後にあった4分のプレゼンでは学校の制服について話し合ったことについて発表しました。人々の意識を変えるための解決策と高校生としてできることを考えました。

私たちのグループは、残念ながら賞をとることはできなかったのですが、プレゼンもディスカッションもうまくいきました。リサーチの仕方やデータの収集を行い、それを発表する方法に習熟する最適な機会となりました。

We attended the All-Japan High School Forum, where I gained valuable knowledge and experience. During the presentation preparation, I researched deeper into the topic of “Japanese mental health” and gained a better understanding of its current situation. Although I had some prior knowledge, the research and preparation helped me think critically and come up with potential solutions.

During the forum, I had the opportunity to discuss the topic of diversity with other students. Initially, I was intimidated to start the discussion as I didn’t know anyone in my group. However, by the end of the session, I was able to express my ideas and had a valuable time. Through this discussion, I learned how individuals acknowledge diversity from their unique perspectives.

Through this forum, I was able to think deeply about Japanese mental health issues and was able to come up with possible solutions. The contest was attended by schools from different prefectures, which made it a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and different perspectives provided me with fresh ideas which made it a valuable time.

私たちは全高校生フォーラムに参加し、貴重な知識と経験を得ることができました。私は「日本のメンタルヘルス」というトピックでプレゼンテーションをし、準備をするうえでこのトピックに深く踏み込み、現状をより理解することができました。また、準備する際、短期間でしたが、４人のチームメイトと力を合わせて素晴らしいプレゼンテーションを作ることができました。このフォーラムでは「ダイバーシティ」のトピックについて議論する機会があり、そこではさまざまの人のき個々の視点から多様性をどのように認識するかを学ぶことができ、有益な時間を過ごすことができました。

このフォーラムに参加したことで、異なるバックグラウンドや視点を持つ人々と交流ができ、新しいアイディアを得られ一生に一度の経験となりました。

I had my first experience in the All Japan High School Forum in December, 2023. We researched several social issues in Japan. Since the suicide rate in Japan is higher than in any other developed country. We came up to eradicate the stigma around mental health in Japan. By struggling with the time limits, we put a lot of effort into the draft and the memorization. Although my team did not have many days to prepare, my team played well so I think the result was pretty good.

The contest was overwhelming. Every participant’s thought-provoking digital designs and the diversity of submissions were truly remarkable. With tons of students showcasing their enthusiasm for the theme, many stated that it inspired me to think critically about the future of my country and our role in shaping it.

I am glad to gather up my team and I am grateful to the teachers that provide me this opportunity. I had a chance to communicate with a lot of students from every part of Japan and even from Taiwan. This event fostered creativity, encouraged critical thinking, and provided a platform for students to express their perspectives. The event not only showcased the student’s talents within our school but also served as a reminder of the power of creativity to inspire change and bring communities together.

On December 17th, we participated in the 2023 All Japan High School Forum. It was held in person for the first time in four years, and over 100 high schools from all over Japan and some from overseas participated in the event. Students presented various global issues and proposed ideas and solutions to overcome these challenges. Our team presented the topic “How to get rid of the stigma around mental health in Japan” and suggested what we, schools, and the government can do to eradicate the stigma. It was challenging to prepare the 4-minute poster presentation since we had to conduct extensive research, practice the presentation, and ensure it was engaging and within the given time. However, we were able to accomplish it by working hard as 1 team. Also, each school’s presentations were creative and impactful in their ways, and it was a wonderful experience having to hear different opinions on a wide variety of topics in person.

After the poster session, we had time to discuss diversity with other high school students. My group specifically focused on the LGBTQ+ and gender problem in Japan. We shared some ideas on this topic such as how we can eliminate gender inequality in schools during entrance exams and put them together in a small group presentation. It was difficult to prepare a group presentation within a short period and combine all our ideas into one presentation, as everyone had their unique perspectives and experiences. However, looking back, I believe our diverse ideas contributed to the richness of our discussion.

Throughout this experience, I have learned the importance of effective communication and the value of considering diverse perspectives, which has broadened my outlook on life.

私たちのグループは、12月17日に2023年度全国高校生フォーラムに参加しました。4年ぶりに対面で行われ、全国から100校以上の高校が参加した大会です。このフォーラムは高校生がそれぞれグローバル問題について調べ、それに対する解決策を考えて一枚の大きなポスターにまとめ、4分の英語プレゼンテーションを行うものです。

私たちは日本のメンタルヘルスに対する偏見をどう取り除くかというテーマで発表をし、その偏見を取り除くために私たち、学校、政府がそれぞれできる解決策を提案しました。このプレゼンのために長時間リサーチをし、プレゼンが時間内に魅力的に発表できるように練習を重ねるなど大変なことが多かったですが、チーム一丸となって一生懸命準備したことにより、成し遂げることができました。また、各学校のプレゼンを自由に見学するこができ、異なるテーマに関するいろいろな意見を直接聞けたことは有意義な経験となりました。

ポスターセッションの後は他の高校生と多様性について話し合う時間が設けられました。私たちのグループは日本のLGBTQ+やジェンダー問題に焦点を当て、このトピックに関するいくつかの考えを共有し、小さいグループプレゼンテーションにまとめました。短時間でたくさんの意見をまとめるのは難しかったですが、振り返ってみると私たちの多様な考えがこの話し合いをより豊かなものにしたと感じます。

この経験を通して私はコミュニケーションの重要性と異なる視点を尊重することの価値に気づくことができ、それが私の視野を広げるきっかけとなりました。
